Today is the youngest you will ever be

love who you are now

Remember when you could eat anything you wanted and not gain a pound? Or stay out until the wee hours of the morning and still be able to show up to work the next day?

As I sit firmly in middle age, I look back and realize I did not embrace my youth and appreciate all the benefits that came with it.

I was too focused on my imperfections and shortcomings; and comparing myself to others instead of enjoying all the things that actually were good about my life.

Fast forward to today….I’m realizing if I don’t embrace all of the good in my life now, I’m repeating the same error. Instead of focusing on all of the new challenges that middle age brings, (hello 10 pounds!), I must celebrate all of the goodness in life and be grateful for it. Because now I understand that “the good ole days” are TODAY. And unless I embrace them now, they will pass me by.

Comparing yourself to what you used to look like or be able to physically do is a waste of time. It’s mentally living in the past. Which means, you’re missing your time now.

Love who you are NOW

Today is the youngest you’ll ever be. And your future self will look back on this time as good. So stop putting yourself down and expecting perfection. Love who you are right now! Do your best today and everyday. Bring your whole self to the table so you live with no regrets.

Bronnie Ware, author of The Top Five Regrets, spent over a decade counseling dying people. After 12 years of documenting her findings, she concluded the most common regret was: ‘I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.’

This is not a dress rehearsal. Figure out who you are…your values, beliefs, what you enjoy doing, and how you can serve the whole…and go live your life in alignment with that. Stop creating comparisons to others or with your younger self. Make this time count. Invest in You. You can Emerge Positive!
