Happy Easter! 🐣

Regardless of whether today is a holiday you participate in or not, today can be dedicated to celebrating life, embracing hope, and creating new beginnings.

Personally, I need that.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve been taking a step back to reflect on my life.  Where I am, how I got here, where I want to be.  Have you ever done that?

It’s not to beat yourself up.  And it’s not a contest to see where you are in the pack.  It’s truly a pause.  To purposely take it all in.  Because it’s so easy to lose focus in our day to day.  Life has a way of speeding up and pulling us from all directions, which is distracting and stressful.

Sometimes you just need to give yourself a time out.

Not give up, mind you.  Just to slow down, breathe and think.

So that’s where I am.  Want to join?

Take a good look at yourself, your life, and how you feel about it right now.

Since we are not perfect beings – and not meant to be – I know you will find shortfalls.

Embrace them.

Don’t start beating yourself up because you aren’t where you want to be.

Instead, use the shortfalls as encouragement, (dare I say ammunition?) to take action.

What can you do to get you from where you are to where you want to be?  Do you see a pathway?  Is it possible?  By the way, the first step is to believe it is indeed possible.  So if you are doubting yourself, stay right here and work on visualizing your life as you want it to be.  Take time each day to hold that mental picture of where you are headed.  It will build confidence and open the door for the people, places and circumstances to help get you there.

Then you move forward….

Start small.  I’m not asking you to overhaul your life.  Or to leave your marriage or job.

Typically, this delta between where we are and where we want to be is not that far apart.  What it needs are some small tweaks that you do daily.

Remember consistency?  It is the miracle balm.

And sometimes I really hate that.  Knowing that something so small is the solution can be frustrating.

Why didn’t I do that before?

What is taking me so long?

Why can’t I just stay on the program?

I’ve gotten mad at myself for that too.

But everything happens with perfect timing.  Everything.  Beating ourselves up is not the solution.

Having faith is.

Trust the process.

The weight will come off.

You will create a lifestyle that matches your goals.

You will find your life partner.

Your child will succeed.

You will get the job and create a career you’re proud of.

You will love who you are.

Today, journal some ideas of what you can start doing that will get you going.  If weight loss is your goal, start taking a daily walk.  Or start stretching first thing in the morning.  But don’t expect yourself to overhaul your life in one day.  Start small.

Ask: what is the one thing I can do that will have the biggest impact on me reaching my goal?

You just may be surprised by your answer.

When I did this exercise, I learned that the one thing to keep me on track on my health goals was to close up my evening at 9pm and get in bed by 9:30p.  By doing that, I got 8 hours of sleep, woke up early, had time for my morning routine, had energy to exercise and was more motivated to eat better.

What’s yours?

Ask yourself, ‘what do I want?’  If you honestly believe that you are creating your life (and you are), then what are you creating?

Really ponder this.  Because you can choose right now to make the necessary changes and improvements.  You hold the power to create a life that you love.  One you are proud of.  Be the example for your kids, friends, and loved ones.

Do you believe you can?

I believe in you.

Make today your new beginning.

You can Emerge Positive.

Positively,

deanne
