Did you know your life is running on invisible tracks—leading you toward a destination you may not have consciously chosen?
The problem is, most of us have no idea where we’re headed. We’re just unconsciously following the tracks.
And this is universal. As professionals, parents, students, and leaders….we all have subconscious beliefs shaping our choices.
Starting when we are very young, we are taught our beliefs. Mostly from our parents, but also from watching those around us. We learn from our family, neighbors, teachers, coaches, and friends.
And over time, these beliefs become our ‘truths’. They can include:
- This is just how it is.
- There is never enough.
- Money isn’t for us, it’s for other people.
- I don’t deserve it.
- I’m not lovable.
- Life isn’t fair.
- Everything is always against me.
- I’m not smart.
- I’ll never be thin or healthy because of my family genes.
These beliefs become ingrained in us. They become the foundation of who we are, whether they are actually true or not. Their outcome can lead to self doubt, fear, and low self-confidence. And in the end, they create our mindset. Which creates our perception….the filter we put everything through as we traverse our life journey.
So you can see how powerful this is. Without even knowing it, the tracks you have chosen are based on your mindset. Not on your real life circumstances. Not because of your genetic code. But because of your mindset.
After 10 years in Los Angeles, I put my sights on Atlanta. LA just wasn’t a place for me to grow roots, so I immediately did what I believed was needed: I started looking for a job that would pay to relocate me.
After 18 months, I was no closer to my goal—and I was ready to give up.
But during that time, this is what I did to improve my mindset:
- I created a vision board with the skyline of Atlanta in the middle of it.
- I read positive affirmations about creating change.
- I read books each morning about transforming my life.
- And I meditated each day about creating an abundant life in Atlanta.
It’s funny how life has a vote. And oftentimes, our dreams are fulfilled in a way we couldn’t possibly imagine.
Instead of being hired by a new company, I was promoted from my current job and I moved myself to Atlanta! Simple. Easy. Amazing.
That experience taught me the power of focusing on what I want, not on how it must happen. And now looking back, I can see how it completely transformed my life….and me!
Changing tracks can be as easy or as difficult as you choose.
Our beliefs create our mindset and that dictates the tracks we ride during our time here. Consciously or unconsciously, we take the trip headed to a destination.
👉 Shouldn’t you be choosing it?
👉 Don’t you want to be on the tracks leading you to your dream life?
👉 Do you believe it’s possible?
Because the second doubt seeps in, you’re already on a different set of tracks.
Here’s some research to back it all up:
1. Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck discovered that what we believe about ourselves—our potential and abilities—literally shapes what’s possible for us. In her research on “growth mindset,” she found that people who believe they can improve consistently outperform those who see their abilities as fixed. Your belief about what’s possible is often the very thing that makes it possible.
2. Harvard researchers Alia Crum and Ellen Langer proved how powerful our mindset truly is. In one study, hotel housekeepers were told their work really counted as exercise saw measurable improvements in weight, blood pressure, and body fat—without changing anything else in their daily routine. Their belief alone transformed their results.
3. And in a remarkable Yale study, researchers found that people with a positive view of aging lived an average of 7.5 years longer than those with a negative mindset. That’s how profoundly our thoughts shape our future.
Your beliefs are not just thoughts; they are the invisible tracks shaping every step of your future.
As the research shows, what you choose to believe about yourself—your worth, your potential, your possibilities—creates the reality you live in. If the track you’re on isn’t leading where you want to go, it’s time to switch.
One new belief, one simple shift in mindset, can redirect your entire life.
Starting today, ask yourself: What track are you on—and what one belief could you shift today to change your outcome and your destination?
You hold the power to switch tracks at any moment. You Can Emerge Positive!
Positively,
