I just did an interview for the Business Insider Roundtable Podcast, and as I was preparing for it, I found myself thinking about something I see all the time — and something I’ve experienced in my own life too.
So many of us want to change.
We want to feel better.
Get healthier.
Improve our relationships.
Find more purpose.
Make more money.
Change careers.
Create a life that actually feels good to wake up to.
And we’re willing to learn.
Why Inspiration Alone Isn’t Enough
We read the books.
Listen to the podcasts.
Watch the motivational videos.
Attend the seminars.
Make the vision board.
We gather inspiration.
And for a moment, it feels like something is shifting.
But then?
Nothing changes.
The weight is still there.
The debt still feels overwhelming.
The relationship is still strained.
The job still drains us.
The dream still feels far away.
The Missing Piece Is Taking Action
Because there’s one part of personal growth that people don’t talk about enough.
Taking Action.
Not dreaming about it.
Not researching it.
Not planning it for six more months. Or waiting until we feel ready.
Actually doing something.
And I know that sounds simple… but it’s the part most people avoid.
Because action is uncomfortable.
Action means applying for the job before you feel fully ready.
Having the hard conversation.
Signing up for the class.
Going to the gym when you don’t feel like it.
Looking at your bank account honestly.
Putting yourself out there.
Starting before you feel confident.
Action forces us to risk failure.
Rejection.
Discomfort.
Uncertainty.
So instead, many people stay in “preparation mode.”
They convince themselves they’re working on their life because they’re consuming information about changing their life.
But information alone doesn’t create transformation.
Action does.
And here’s the interesting thing:
You don’t need massive action to start changing your life.
You just need movement.
We talk about this a lot in the Beyond by Emerge Positive™ program. Taking small consistent steps that are aligned with your goal is how you’ll reach it.
One phone call.
One workout.
One application.
One walk.
One honest conversation.
One small decision that moves you forward instead of keeping you stuck.
Action Creates Confidence
Because confidence doesn’t usually come before action.
Confidence comes from action. Because it is evidence that you’re doing it.
It comes from proving to yourself that you are capable of moving forward — even when it’s uncomfortable.
As T. Harv Eker, author of The Multi-Millionaire Mind says:
“One step in the right direction is worth 100 years of thinking about it.”
I couldn’t agree more.
You Don’t Have to Feel Ready to Begin
I think a lot of people are waiting to “feel ready” before they begin. I waited 8 years before starting Emerge Positive for that very reason. Don’t be like me….if you have a burning desire in your gut, start right now. Life is just too short and too precious to wait it out for a time that feels more comfortable.
But what if readiness isn’t something you feel?
What if it’s something you create by starting?
Maybe the missing piece isn’t more information.
Maybe it’s courage.
Momentum.
Movement.
Maybe the part you’re overlooking…is the most important part of all.
Action.
One of the reasons I created Beyond by Emerge Positive™ was because I realized something:
Most women don’t need more inspiration.
They need support taking action on the life they truly want.
That’s where transformation actually happens.
Not just in learning.
But in the doing.
Take the Next Small Aligned Step
If you’ve been feeling stuck lately, maybe this is your reminder:
You do not need to have your entire future figured out.
You just need to take the next small aligned step.
You Can Emerge Positive!
Positively,
Deanne
