Stressful Week? Here’s How to Feel Better Now.

This has been a tough week for many of us. News of tariffs, drastic stock market drops, and layoffs are creating anxiety and stress worldwide.

So I thought it was a good time to remind you of the simple and essential way you can lower stress and improve your life.

Loving who you are is not only the foundation to a great life. It is a requirement.

Do you like who you are?  Are you proud of who you’ve become?  Or do you pick on yourself all day long?  Do you see yourself as too fat?  Not wealthy enough?  Behind on your life timeline? Have a job that is unfulfilling?  Single, again?

If you’re anything like me, you put high expectations on yourself.  On how you look, what you do, how you act….the list is extensive.

But is setting a high bar really so bad?

Yes, if you never truly accept yourself as you are today.  Right now.

Last week, I talked about how we are all works in progress.  We are on a long journey of growth, learning and curiosity.

But when we beat ourselves up for missing the mark in some shape or form, we are missing out on what could be.

We get in our own way.

I’ll go a step further….we are the only thing in our way to a better and happier life.

Once you realize this, it is a life-changer.

We spend way too much time focused on people, circumstances and situations outside of us. We people-please and place our value and worth on what we think they think of us.

If we can just pivot our focused attention and efforts from “them” outside ourselves to “us” we can solve our problems.

We must learn to value ourselves.  To see the good in ourselves.  To be compassionate about our choices throughout our day, week, and life journey.

We are not perfect.  None of us are.  We are human beings.  And we are meant to fall down, fail and feel pain during this time here.  For it is through these challenges that we grow and learn about who we really are and what we are capable of doing.

So creating resistance to failure, of falling short of our bar, is creating unnecessary pain and suffering.  We are meant to fail!

And that includes our career.

I know many of us are really struggling with our jobs and career path right now.  I just read that layoffs are the highest they have been since Covid in 2020.  That’s mind-boggling.

Gen X-ers are in their 50’s trying to re-invigorate their career path.  Millennials are caught in middle management roles that have no upward path.  And Gen Zs are not finding the fulfilling work they envisioned.  All while companies are slowing down spending and growth due to the uncertainty in the global economy.

It’s a lot to absorb.  And it is eliciting fear everywhere.

But please don’t let that freeze you.  Or worse, make you feel like you are unworthy, or not good enough.

Because as I stated, loving who you are is essential to a better life.

Fear is not real.  It stands for:  False Evidence Appearing Real.  So we must walk through it. With confidence.  With self love.  With a deep knowing that we will be ok.

I have a mantra that I say to myself often that really helps me and may help you:

Everything Happens With Perfect Timing.’

Say it daily. Say it whenever you feel the stress of something not happening when you want it to.

I believe that events, people and things show up at the perfect time. It has proven true over and over in my life. Mind you, that doesn’t mean the timing is what you are hoping for. But have faith that it is coming.

Stop filling your mind with news headlines meant to sensationalize and things outside of your control.  Instead focus inward on what you can control…your thoughts.

We must take care of ourselves.  Body. Mind. Soul.

We must practice kindness.  To ourselves and to others.

We must love who we are.

We must see and acknowledge our value and our worth.

Today, take some time for self care. Do something that creates peace within you. It could be as simple as taking a walk, or just sitting down without your phone and looking at the trees and sky. Yesterday, my family and I stood on our balcony watching a sun shower and a double rainbow right in front of our house. It was incredibly beautiful, and I immediately felt connected to something much bigger than me and completely at peace.

Don’t forget that you are here on purpose. Don’t waste it.

You have an incredible opportunity to bring your unique “You” to the world.  And one that is much less stressed.  This is your time.  Fly. Thrive.  Be Happy.  Be the picture of true joy.

For when you do, you become an example to all of those around you.  And you give them permission to do the same thing.  And that is how you create a better world.

Love who you are.  Love your life.

You can Emerge Positive!

Positively,

deanne
