It’s one of the most vulnerable questions I hear—and one I’ve asked myself too:
Is it too late for me?
You’re a junior in college, and your major no longer excites you. Is it too late to change course?
You’ve been laid off. You’re scared. What you really want to do feels so far from your résumé. Is it too late to pivot?
Or you’re in your 30’s, killing it in your career, your marriage and your family, but something is missing. You feel empty inside and not the happiness you try to show to the outside world.
Midlife is where you start asking yourself questions like, ‘is this all there is?’ Somewhere along the way, you’ve lost touch with yourself. Is it too late to change direction?
And once in retirement, you may feel bored and without purpose. You miss the friendships and purpose of going to do something each day. Is it too late? Are you too old to jump back in?
These are all very real life examples. And you may find yourself sitting right in the middle of one of them. Or perhaps you are seeing one of these in your future.
Is it too late?
It’s only too late if you believe it is.
Culturally, we cast aside the older generations. If you’re over 70, you most likely have felt irrelevant at some point or another.
And that seems to start in your 50’s. Age discrimination in the workplace is felt by many. The belief that somehow once you cross that 5-0 threshold, you lose your gifts, abilities, and purpose here.
So I can see how one can easily fall into that mindset and belief that it’s too late to chase the dream or become what might have been.
But hear me on this: It Is Not Too Late.
But you must choose that. Your mindset must be in alignment with your belief that You Can.
You can’t continue to live your life in reaction to what you see in the outside world while also creating a brand new exciting pathway for yourself.
I had a spiritual teacher that I worked with for years that always said, “Be in the world, but not of it.”
Stop focusing on the world. Stop worrying about what other people think. You can’t control what they think, do or say. So spending one second of your life worrying about them is such a waste of your time.
⏰ No matter where you are in the time continuum…it is not too late.
If you have 50 years, 40, 30, or 5 left on this planet, shouldn’t you live them joyfully?
You hold the power to do that. It starts with your mindset.
- Get clear on what you want.
- Visualize it—and revisit it every day.
- Write it down. Say it out loud.
- Share it with someone who believes in you.
- Pray or meditate on it.
✨And believe you can get there. Because you can.
It’s not too late. Start believing in yourself. Start believing in a world that supports you in creating a life you love; no matter how far it may seem right now.
It’s time to get excited about the possibilities.
Because we need you. We need to see the example of ‘Dreamers Who Do’.
You can Emerge Positive.
Positively,
deanne
